Four Corners National Monument

Still catching up from Monday - we're getting there...

Four Corners National Monument is also on Indian Reservation land, and you have to pay a small fee to them to get to the monument. It’s a two lane road from Monument Valley to the monument, and there were some good-sized hills and bad pavement along the way. It took about an hour and a half to get there, and it was hot when we got out of the RV – in the 90’s.

The Four Corners National Monument marks the spot where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona’s state lines meet in four corners. We walked up to the marker and had our picture taken so that each of us was in one state. Unfortunately, the first person I asked to take the picture didn’t think it was important to get our feet and the marker in the picture – it was just our upper bodies. Oh well.

Jeff wanted to go there and do Downward Dog in all four states, and got his wish, as you can see.

We walked around to some of the booths the Navajo have set up to sell jewelry and other items. Jeff found a booth selling Navajo tacos and got one, and the kids got snow cones. We saw a break in the crowd lining up for photos, so we tried again, this time with my wide angle lens that could get everything in the picture. Mission accomplished. We weren’t going to come all this way and not get a good picture.

After this short stop, it was on to Santa Fe.
