Ruth's Trip to the Hospital

The grill was heating up and we were sitting at the picnic table enjoying the perfect weather of the day.  Not a cloud in the sky, not too hot and not cold.  A slight breeze.

I made sun tea, and Ruth and I were going to have a glass of iced tea with some lemonade in it.  Ruth went back into the RV to get the lemonade out of the refrigerator and cut her leg on the RV door when she was going in.

She came to tell me, and I got a clean, wet cloth to clean it up.  I am not one to deal well with blood, so I got Jeff.  He watches shows where they operate on people, so he could handle this.  He thought Ruth needed stitches, and she wanted no part of it.  He got the cut cleaned up and talked to Ruth about going to the little hospital in Panguitch to get it checked out.  She was afraid of getting stitches, but she was coming around to Jeff's way of thinking.  After about 40 minutes, he carried her to the Jeep and they went to the hospital, about 35 minutes away in Panguitch.

It's a good thing Jeff was able to talk her into it, because the doctor told her she made the right decision to come in.  She got seven stitches, and the nurse gave her ice cream for being such a good patient.  Because Ruth was so nervous about getting stitches for the first time - and who wouldn't be - she threw up a tiny bit while she was waiting.  The wonderful nurse washed Ruth's hair afterward to clean her up.  Great treatment, all around.

Henry and I ate a little bit of our dinner while we waited for Jeff and Ruth to return, and then we fed them when they got back.  Ruth has a purple bandage over her stitches and she can't go swimming for 10 days. We'll have to take her back to a doctor to have the stitches removed later in the trip. Ruth laid on the couch and watched television until she fell asleep.  She's our brave little trooper.
